Monica Tang

Biography

Monica Tang is a distinguished pianist from Hong Kong, known for her outstanding musicality and sensitivity. As a versatile collaborator, she plays with singers, instrumentalists, chamber ensembles, choirs, and in opera settings. Monica has performed across Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the U.S., China and Hong Kong, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Art Song Interpretation (Piano Performance) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) under Prof. Justus Zeyen.

A sought-after artist, Monica has worked with prominent choirs, including the award-winning Thomas Circle Singers in Washington D.C. and the Hong Kong Bach Choir. She was also a fully funded collaborative pianist fellow at Musiktheater Bavaria and the Berlin Opera Academy in Germany. Additionally, Monica has served as a répétiteur for Musica Viva and the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, where she has garnered acclaim for her expressive playing. She frequently accompanies students in competitions and examinations, helping them achieve excellent results.

Monica holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from the University of Maryland, where she studied under Prof. Rita Sloan and served as a Graduate Assistant at the School of Music. She received a full scholarship through the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme (HKSES) and holds the title of "Hong Kong Scholar." Her education includes an exchange semester in Chamber Music at Örebro University in Sweden and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
